The next document is the Project Initiation Documentation or PID for short. This documentation is arguably the most important of any within the PRINCE2 project management system.
It provides a wholistic look at the planning of the project, including Quality Criteria, Budget, Schedule, and a breakdown of Project Stages. The PIDis a living set of documentation, meaning that it updates and grows as the project progresses. It should enable sight of the pathway to project completion and the current project status. Whilst it is a living document, plans evolve overtime. A copy of the original set of Project Initiation Documentations should be preserved for reference purposes. It may contain, a Project Definition, Project Approach, Business Case, Project Management Team Structure, Role Descriptions, Quality Management Approach, Change Control approach, Risk Management Approach, Communication Management Approach, and Project Plan,Project Controls, and any related tailoring of the PRINCE2 project management framework
